70s hair and make up trends

Spring summer 2016 is looking very different to the one of last year, especially for trends in hair and make up! I am so excited to dig out my pastel eye shadow pallet and I am really looking forward to a softer look entirely towards hair and make up styling for the summer months to follow.

Fashion and media go hand in hand and with new cult T.V Shows such as Vinyl it is no wonder that the trends in hair and make up have shifted away from the structured styles of the earlier decades to the softer less complex style of the 70’s. I have studied the up and coming trends as well as feeling a natural interest in this decade and have witnessed the following key style changes that have without a doubt taken their inspiration from this glorious period in history.

Centre partings/crimping/ pigtails/long hair

Key hairstyles that we will be seeing a lot more of are centre partings. Wearing your hair in a centre parting will give you a softer appearance to the whole face. It will also highlight your bone structure and balance the face entirely. Great when wearing the hair down with loose tussled waves or wearing it neat in a ponytail, simple but stunning. Enjoy a longer, less styled hairstyle for the summer with longer layers which when warn loose will look great and will take you hardly any time to style.. woo hoo!

It was also a joy to see a lot of pigtails on the catwalk for spring summer 2016. I even saw the odd bit of crimped hair for the more daring!!

Long fake lashes

I don’t think fake eyelashes will ever go out of fashion however it was nice to see extra long quirky lashes on the catwalks. When worn with softer make up these can look great.

Glitter

Hooray Glitter is back! If warn on it’s own on the eyelid this can be soft and pretty. Why not try a metallic gold or blue glitter and purchase a gel to help bind the glitter onto the skin and help the product to stay put.  Charles Fox (London) has some amazing glitters and gel, definitely worth checking out!

Pastel eye shadow

Finally we are adding colour back into our make up routine and pastel shadows can look stunning on all skin types. If you have blue eyes why not experiment with peach, gold or grass green on the eye. Or if you have green eyes try lavender or a Rose. If you have a brown eye you can try wider varieties of colour including blue and brighter shades.

Full brows

So ladies I am not saying you need to toss the tweezers away but you can certainly stop the over plucking and try opt for a more natural fuller brow shape. Try using a brow gel to brush up the hair and give a stronger appearance.

Rosie pink lips

It seems the lip colour of the moment is ‘lip colour’! So try using a stain or a tint instead of an opaque lipstick. This will give a fresher appearance and a lovely Rosie Pink lip.
